about us

CASA works on the Western Slope to strengthen and stabilize families and provide voices for children experiencing the devastating effects of physical and/or sexual abuse, neglect, and domestic violence.

We recruit, screen, train, and support community members within the 7th Judicial District to represent the best interest of children who are victims of neglect, physical and/or sexual abuse, and domestic violence. Becoming a CASA volunteer is a powerful way for concerned citizens to make a difference in their communities.

After extensive training and under the direction of the presiding judge, CASA volunteers participate as independent child advocates, formalizing their observations and recommendations in written court reports to assist in the complex and difficult decision-making processes directly affecting the child. CASA is a respected agency with a 95.9% judicial satisfaction rating, and judges express great need for more CASA volunteers for their cases.

CASA is affiliated with both the National CASA Association and CASA in Colorado. In 2000, CASA began serving the six-county area that comprises the 7th Judicial District: Delta, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Montrose, Ouray, and San Miguel counties.
